BANGKOK<\/strong>– Bangkok Airways (PG)<\/a> is preparing to order up to 30 new aircraft to renew its aging fleet and capitalize on tourism growth sparked <\/strong>by the popularity of the television series White Lotus. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mid-sized Thai carrier plans to approach Airbus, Boeing, and Embraer for at least 20 single-aisle jets in the first half of the year, with options for approximately 10 more. The airline aims to expand its fleet to at least 30 jets within the next four to five years<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With increased traffic anticipated, the company will commence a 1.5 billion baht ($45 million) renovation of Samui Airport<\/strong> (USM)<\/strong> in the second half of this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project is expected to span three years, with the airport remaining operational throughout the renovation period. Bangkok Airways (PG) has secured approval to increase its daily flights to 73 from the current 50.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The carrier forecasts flying a record 4.7 million passengers this year, up from 4.3 million in 2023, according to Puttipong. Bangkok Airways anticipates 10% to 20% more passengers than last year’s 2.7 million specifically on its routes to Koh Samui.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
