ZURICH-<\/strong> Edelweiss (WK)<\/a> has taken delivery of its first Airbus A350<\/a>, registered as HB-IHF, arrived at Zurich Airport (ZRH). The new aircraft will enhance Edelweiss’ long-haul capabilities, with future routes including Las Vegas (LAS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Airbus A350 is known for its fuel efficiency and sustainability, replacing the older Airbus A340 models in Edelweiss’ fleet. The airline plans to acquire six A350-900 aircraft by 2027 to modernize operations and expand its route network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Edelweiss First Airbus A350 <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Edelweiss (WK) celebrated the arrival of its first Airbus A350-900 at Zurich Airport (ZRH)<\/a>. The aircraft, HB-IHF, departed from Lourdes Airport (LDE) before making a ceremonial landing at its new home. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A planned go-around maneuver provided an additional spectacle for aviation enthusiasts before the aircraft safely touched down on runway 16<\/strong> at 3:13 PM<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon arrival, the A350 was escorted by follow-me vehicles and greeted with a traditional water salute by Zurich\u2019s fire department. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft then proceeded to its designated parking position, B38, where over 100 Edelweiss employees and executives gathered to welcome the newest addition to the fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event drew significant interest from aviation fans and plane spotters. Hundreds of spectators gathered at Zurich Airport (ZRH), some arriving hours in advance to secure the best vantage points. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Popular viewing spots included terrace B, airport car parks, and other designated plane-spotting areas around the airport. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many attendees captured the moment with cameras and binoculars, celebrating the historic milestone for Edelweiss and Swiss aviation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Airbus A350<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Airbus A350-900 is among the most advanced long-haul aircraft, setting new industry standards for efficiency and environmental sustainability. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Equipped with the latest aerodynamics and next-generation engines, the A350-900 is one of the most fuel-efficient wide-body aircraft in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Compared to the four-engine Airbus A340<\/a>, the A350-900 consumes 25% less fuel and emits 25% less CO2. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, its noise emissions are reduced by up to 50%, making it a quieter and more eco-friendly option for long-haul travel. Edelweiss’ (WK) transition to the A350 aligns with its commitment to reducing its environmental footprint while enhancing passenger experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Edelweiss’ Fleet Expansion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Edelweiss has committed to acquiring six Airbus A350-900 aircraft by mid-2027. These new aircraft will gradually replace the airline\u2019s five existing Airbus A340-300s, bringing its long-haul fleet back to its pre-pandemic strength of six aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the A350-900, Edelweiss aims to enhance operational efficiency and expand its global route network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the key destinations for the new aircraft will be Las Vegas (LAS)<\/a>, as the airline plans to introduce direct flights to the US entertainment hub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
