The legendary “Kangaroo Route,”<\/strong> a flight which first connected Sydney (SYD) to London (LHR) in 1947 with multiple stopovers. This will be making a grand return in 2026. This time, the journey is not just about getting from point A to point B. It will be about a lot more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Journey Through Time<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The historic Sydney-London<\/a> route was launched back in the 1900s. Qantas launched the route with\u00a0a Lockheed Constellation plane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The original Kangaroo Route was launched by Qantas on 1st<\/sup> December, 1947. Back then, it took the Lockheed aircraft four days to complete the rotation. The journey included seven stopovers along the way. The aircraft use to Leave Sydney and would take a small layovers at Darwin, Singapore, Calcutta (now Kolkata), Karachi, Cairo and Tripoli. The aircraft shall finally reach London from Tripoli.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The journey, which was an incredible feat of aviation at the time. The flight required multiple crew members, navigators, and engineers to ensure safe passage across continents. Back then, flying was a privilege of the wealthy, with tickets costing the equivalent of tens of thousands of dollars today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fast forward to 2026, the travelers now have the opportunity to embark on an exclusive two-week adventure. The flight will be recreating the historic journey with a significant upgrade in comfort and style. This special itinerary is being organized by luxury travel operator Captain\u2019s Choice, which has partnered with Qantas to offer this one-of-a-kind experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Lavish Reimagining of the Classic Route<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Unlike the grueling multi-day journey of the past, the new “Pioneering Spirit of the Kangaroo Route” will be an indulgent and a different route. The journey will last for 14-days. The experience along the wayfor the passengers will be expedition that seamlessly blends nostalgia with modern luxury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Passengers will travel aboard a specially chartered Qantas Airbus A330-300<\/a>, stopping at key locations along the original route. This special charter will have stopovers including Darwin, Singapore, Kolkata, Colombo, Cairo, Toulouse, and Rome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
