The flight crew promptly addressed their concerns, explaining that the go-around constituted a precautionary safety measure and confirming the aircraft operated within normal parameters.

Despite these reassurances, one passenger reported lingering apprehension throughout the remainder of the flight journey.

The aircraft circled the airport for about 20 minutes before successfully completing a safe landing. IndiGo Airlines sources attributed the go-around to an unstable approach, emphasizing their commitment to passenger safety as the primary consideration. The airline confirmed the aircraft encountered no technical malfunctions during the flight.

Photo: avgeekwithlens/ Harsh Tekriwal

Similar Incident

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has suspended IndiGo pilots involved in a tail strike incident that occurred at Delhi airport on September 9. The incident affected IndiGo Airlines flight 6E6054, an Airbus A321neo with registration VT-IBI, operating on the Delhi to Bengaluru route.

The aircraft remained grounded for eight days following the incident. The DGCA has not specified the duration of the pilots’ suspension as it continues its investigation into the occurrence. Sources informed MoneyControl that both pilots have been grounded pending the investigation’s conclusion.

A preliminary report indicates the DGCA issued a show-cause notice to both pilots immediately after the incident occurred.

This disciplinary action follows a similar case last year when the DGCA suspended IndiGo pilots involved in a tail strike at Ahmedabad airport. In that instance, the pilot-in-command received a three-month suspension while the co-pilot faced a one-month suspension.

The DGCA previously imposed a Rs 30 lakh fine on IndiGo after the airline experienced four tail strike incidents on its A321 aircraft in 2023. These incidents occurred between January and June 2023 during landing or take-off operations, raising significant concerns about the airline’s operational safety and pilot training standards.

Stay tuned with us.
