LONDON-<\/strong> Chicago-based carrier, United Airlines (UA)<\/a> flight from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) to New York’s Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) makes emergency landing back at Newark on Saturday (March 1, 2025).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

United Airlines operates half a dozen flights between London Heathrow <\/a>and Newark Airport using the Boeing 767 aircraft fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

United Flight Emergency Landing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A United Airlines flight executed an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport this evening following a hydraulic system failure shortly after departure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Boeing 767-300 aircraft<\/a> returned to Heathrow for an overweight landing just before 6 pm local time, prompting a full emergency response.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Airport authorities deployed fire crews, paramedics, and operations staff as the aircraft approached. The situation was further complicated by reports that the flight carried dangerous goods in its cargo hold, adding additional risk to the emergency landing procedure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A United Airlines spokesperson confirmed 63 passengers and 10 crew members were aboard the flight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The representative told the Mirror: “United flight 941 returned to London Heathrow to address a maintenance issue. The plane landed safely, passengers deplaned normally, and we’re working to get our customers to their destination as soon as possible.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flight UA1879 departed O’Hare just before 9 a.m. on February 12, 2025, but soon declared potential emergency conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flight crew initially reported a possible cockpit fire during the early departure phase. Chicago Fire Department personnel responded to the emergency call but discovered no active fire upon their arrival. The aircraft remained secure with no firefighting intervention required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

United Airlines confirmed the aircraft landed safely at O’Hare with emergency services positioned as a precautionary measure. The airline arranged a replacement aircraft to transport the affected passengers to San Jos\u00e9 del Cabo International Airport, which successfully departed Chicago at approximately 2 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft involved in the incident is a Boeing 737-800, registered as N17244, which has been in service for 25 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
