The strategic expansion marks WestJet’s first-ever connection between Halifax and Amsterdam, driving a significant 97 percent surge in the airline’s transatlantic seat capacity from Nova Scotia compared to the previous year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jared Mikoch-Gerke, Director of Alliances and Airport Affairs at WestJet, emphasizes the route’s economic impact. “The Halifax-Amsterdam service creates unprecedented growth opportunities for Nova Scotia, strengthening European connectivity and fostering tourism development between the regions,” he states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The outbound Halifax flights commence May 29, 2025, while the Amsterdam-Halifax service begins May 30, 2025. Both routes maintain a six-times-weekly frequency throughout the summer schedule. The flight will be operated by Boeing 737 MAX 8 (737-8) aircraft<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This Amsterdam connection joins WestJet’s expanding European network from Halifax. In summer 2025, the airline will operate its most extensive transatlantic service yet from YHZ, featuring direct flights to Paris, London, Dublin, and Edinburgh alongside the new Amsterdam route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
