BENGALURU- <\/strong>A 24-year-old woman unknowingly became a victim of ticket fraud when she attempted to enter Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru<\/a> on February 11, 2025, using a fake ticket. The woman was reportedly tricked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fraudulent ticket was provided by an agent she had relied on for her booking, leading to an airport security alert and police involvement, as reported by Deccan Herald<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The woman was scheduled to fly to Ranchi. She reached the Passenger Terminal Building Gate of Terminal 1 at approximately 7:30 AM. Her ticket showed she was booked on SpiceJet (SG) <\/a>flight SG320<\/strong>, supposedly bound for Ranchi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, airline officials quickly noticed a major discrepancy. SpiceJet flight SG 320 was not a Ranchi-bound flight at that time. The flight was instead operating between Bengaluru and Guwahati, Assam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SpiceJet officials later found out that the ticket was fraudulent. The officials immediately informed the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). CISF took the woman into custody and then escorted her to the police station for further questioning regarding her booking process and the intermediary involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the police inquiry, the woman revealed that she had booked the ticket through an agent. The agent was recommended by her friends. She also said that she paid the full fare but had not taken the precaution of verifying the ticket\u2019s authenticity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The police subsequently issued a notice instructing her to provide details of the transaction, including payment records and the agent’s contact information. Although she was initially detained, authorities determined that she had unknowingly fallen victim to fraud. Later, when she was found to be not guilty, the woman was allowed to leave after the initial investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite her lack of involvement in the scam, the Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL) police registered an FIR against her under sections 336(2) (forgery) and 340 (use of forged documents or electronic records) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation to track down the fraudulent agent responsible for issuing the fake ticket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities note that cases of ticket fraud involving unauthorized travel agents are becoming increasingly common.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many passengers take extra precautions by verifying their bookings through airline customer service or online portals. However, some\u2014like this woman\u2014fail to cross-check their tickets, making them vulnerable to scams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incident serves as a reminder for travelers. Passengers should always verify their bookings and use official airline websites or trusted travel agencies for ticket purchases. With an increasing number of ticket fraud cases emerging, passengers need to remain cautious and avoid falling prey to unscrupulous intermediaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
