GURUGRAM-<\/strong> Tata Group-owned Air India (AI) <\/a>will soon launch one of the most awaited flights between Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)<\/a> as it has received the Air Carrier Operating Permit (ACOP) from LAX.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, the Indian full-service carrier serves five key destinations in the United States of America (USA). They are Chicago O\u2019hare (ORD), Newark (EWR), New York (JFK), San Francisco (SFO) and Washington Dulles (IAD).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air India Los Angeles Flights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A deeper analysis as shared by Ishrion Aviation<\/em> on X (formerly known as Twitter) of the Los Angeles International Airport’s January 2025 carrier permit list reveals significant developments regarding Air India’s expansion plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The carrier received operating permit ACOP-144 <\/strong>with an effective date of December 9, 2024, suggesting imminent plans for direct service between Delhi and Los Angeles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 The DEL-LAX is 12,896 km<\/strong> and is likely to take more than 15 hours to complete the journey. The Indian carrier can launch the flights with its mix of flagship Airbus A350<\/a> and Boeing 777s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The timing of the permit’s effective date typically aligns closely with intended service launches, indicating Air India likely targeted a December 2024 start date for this route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The absence of a listed operating name in the permit document, unlike other carriers, hints at possible last-minute administrative or operational adjustments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The delay in launching the service despite having secured the permit points to potential operational constraints. These could include aircraft availability issues amid global supply chain challenges, crew training requirements, or route optimization considerations in Air India’s expanding international network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
