DUBAI-<\/strong> The UAE is set to revolutionize urban mobility with the unveiling of its first flying air taxi<\/a> station, Dubai International Vertiport (DXV)<\/strong>. Approved for development, this facility will begin operations in 2026, marking a significant milestone in the country’s aviation history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DXV, located near Dubai International Airport (DXB)<\/a>, is part of an air taxi project led by Skyports Infrastructure, Dubai\u2019s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), and Joby Aviation<\/a>. The initiative aims to establish a world-class vertiport network in the UAE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DXV: First Flying Taxi Station in UAE<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

DXV is the first of four planned air taxi hubs under the UAE\u2019s innovative air mobility framework. The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) recently approved the technical design of DXV, making it the first vertiport<\/a> to meet the newly established UAE Vertiport Regulations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This approval allows Skyports Infrastructure to progress with the facility’s development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The DXV project involves a comprehensive evaluation process, focusing on critical aspects such as physical dimensions, layout, airspace management, and obstacle clearance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities have also emphasized safety, integrating robust rescue and firefighting services (RFFS) designed for both traditional and battery-powered aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, GCAA’s Director-General, stated that the DXV design approval represents a groundbreaking moment in urban transportation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Duncan Walker, CEO of Skyports, added that the GCAA’s leadership in regulation will enable the scaling of air taxi services across the UAE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
