ANCHORAGE-<\/strong> Seattle-headquartered Alaska Airlines (AS)<\/a> announced a significant expansion of its summer 2025 network, introducing the first-ever nonstop flights connecting Anchorage (ANC)<\/a> to Detroit (DTW) and Sacramento (SMF) while reinstating service between Fairbanks (FAI) and Portland (PDX)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new Detroit and Sacramento routes will commence weekly roundtrip operations on June 14, 2025, elevating Alaska Airlines’ nonstop destinations between Anchorage and the Lower 48 and Hawaii to an unprecedented total of 15 summer routes. The Fairbanks-Portland service will begin operations on May 15, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The direct flights from Detroit and Sacramento eliminate layovers, providing travelers with immediate access to Alaska’s heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The expansion serves both incoming tourists and residents. Marilyn Romano, Regional Vice President of Alaska at Alaska Airlines, highlights the state’s summer attractions, including extended daylight hours, cultural experiences, and fresh seafood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anchorage functions as a strategic hub for exploring various Alaskan communities and accessing cruise destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The expanded network also benefits Alaskans by providing additional direct routes for visiting friends and family during the summer season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Nonstop Routes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Detroit-Anchorage and Sacramento-Anchorage services will operate weekly on Saturdays from June 14 through August 16, utilizing Boeing 737 aircraft<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Fairbanks-Portland route will provide daily service from May 15 to August 19, operating with Embraer E175 aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The expanded summer network positions Anchorage as a major hub with 15 nonstop destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These connections span major metropolitan areas including Chicago, Denver, Detroit, Honolulu, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, New York JFK, Phoenix, Portland, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, San Diego, San Francisco, and Seattle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
