BENGALURU-<\/strong> Tata Group-owned Air India (AI) <\/a>flight from Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (BLR) to Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL), Delhi experienced an engine stall on January 5, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flight AI2820 was operated by Airbus A320<\/a>, registered as VT-TQE<\/strong>. Further, it is a 3.8-year-old aircraft powered by CFM LEAP-1A engines. It was also an ex-Vistara plane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air India Bengaluru to Delhi Flight Diverted<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to FlightRadar24 data, Air India flight AI2820 <\/strong>took off from Bengaluru with a delay of over one hour at 7:09 PM local time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But shortly after takeoff, at 8,000 feet, the flight experienced an engine stall (likely a compressor stall). For those who are not aware of it. Here’s a brief on it:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘Engine stalls occur when operational processes halt unexpectedly, disrupting normal function. In aircraft engines, compressor stalls manifest as localized airflow disruptions within the gas turbine compressor system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Compressor surges represent severe stall conditions, characterized by complete airflow disruption through the compressor unit. These incidents range from minor power fluctuations to total compression loss, necessitating fuel flow adjustments for operational recovery.’<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The flight crew did not declare an emergency, however, they altered ATC and asked for a precautionary landing back at Bengaluru.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
