PORBANDAR-<\/strong> A Coast Guard Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) crash at Porbandar Airport on 5 January 2025, Sunday, killing two pilots and one crew member. All those involved were promptly transported to the local civil hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incident follows a similar crash two months prior when another Coast Guard helicopter went down in the sea. The Coast Guard has not issued an official statement regarding the latest crash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coast Guard Helicopter Crash<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On Sunday, an Indian Coast Guard Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv<\/a> crashed during a routine training sortie in Porbandar, Gujarat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The helicopter encountered technical difficulties that led to the crash, with two pilots and one other individuals on board at the time of the incident. Reports confirm that all three have died in the crash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities have yet to release information regarding casualties or the extent of any injuries. An investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the technical failure and prevent future occurrences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The emergency team has reached the site and is investigating the accident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similar Incident<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In a similar incident earlier in September 2024, a Coast Guard Dhruv helicopter was deployed on a medical evacuation mission when it crashed into the Arabian Sea near Porbandar. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft had been responding to an emergency on the Indian-flagged motor tanker Hari Leela, located about 45 km from the coast. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite its proximity to the coastline, the helicopter had to ditch into the sea after encountering difficulties. This was a precautionary measure taken after the fleet of 16 helicopters, manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL)<\/a>, was grounded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
