BENGALURU-<\/strong> India\u2019s leading LCC IndiGo Airlines (6E)<\/a>, has once again strengthened its presence at Kempegowda International Airport (BLR), Bengaluru with the addition of new routes to its extensive network. This expansion solidifies the presence of the airline in its 2nd<\/sup> biggest Hub in India after Delhi (DEL).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the latest additions, IndiGo now connects Bengaluru (BLR) <\/a>with an extensive network to other parts of the country and abroad. It is a milestone in itself for the airline’s connectivity from the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IndiGo New Flights from Bengaluru<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

IndiGo’s network from Bengaluru reached new records with the addition of two new routes on 31st December 2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first addition was the launch of flights to Ayodhya (AYJ)<\/strong>, marking the first-ever direct connection between Kempegowda International Airport (BLR)<\/strong> and the city by IndiGo. With this, IndiGo (6E) now connects 5 Major Indian cities to Ayodhya (AYJ) including Delhi (DEL), Mumbai (BOM), Hyderabad (HYD), etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second addition was the resumption of flights to Gorakhpur (GOP)<\/strong>. IndiGo had previously operated on the Bengaluru\u2013 Gorakhpur route before suspending it during the pandemic. After nearly five years, the airline has reintroduced this route, catering to the increasing demand for travel to and from the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These new additions have taken the airline\u2019s network reach from 78 to 80 destinations from Kempegowda International Airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IndiGo has set a remarkable milestone at its Bengaluru hub, now offering non-stop flights to an impressive 80 destinations<\/strong>. Among these, 67 are domestic destinations<\/strong>, while the remaining 13 are international<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Expansion to continue<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Over the next few months, IndiGo (6E) will continue the expansion from Bengaluru (BLR) with increased flights to various domestic destinations. The airline will add a 2nd<\/sup> daily flight to Surat (STV) in Gujarat from 31st<\/sup> December 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IndiGo will further expand flights to Goa (GOX) from Bengaluru (BLR). The airline will introduce 3rd<\/sup> daily flight to Goa (GOX) starting on 15th<\/sup> January 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IndiGo (6E) flies to Goa Dabolim (GOI) too, which is the old airport located in Panaji. The airline flies 6 times daily to Dabolim Airport (GOI). With this 3rd<\/sup> daily flight to Manohar Airport (GOX), there will be 9 daily flights to Goa from Bengaluru (BLR) by IndiGo (6E).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IndiGo (6E) will also enhance frequency to Varanasi (VNS) and Patna (PAT). The airline will introduce a 4th<\/sup> daily flight to Varanasi (VNS) starting from 5th<\/sup> February 2025. The airline will also introduce 4th<\/sup> and 5th<\/sup> daily flights to Patna (PAT) starting from 16 February 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per the AviationA2Z exclusive sources, the airline will operate up to 420X daily flights from Bengaluru (BLR) in January<\/strong>. That translates to 210 daily departures. These flights are all set to increase in February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Strategic Hub in South India<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Kempegowda International Airport (BLR) is not just a key gateway to South India but also a strategic hub for IndiGo\u2019s operations. The airline\u2019s growing network from Bengaluru (BLR) reflects the city’s importance as a center for business, and tourism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is reflected well by the nature of the airline\u2019s network from Bengaluru (BLR). The airline operates flights to a few unique international destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Destinations such as Bali (DPS), Mauritius (MRU), and Langkawi (LGK) are a few such destinations. These destinations mainly depend on transfer passengers, coming in from other parts of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bengaluru Airport (BLR) has also achieved a milestone as the airport has handled more than 40 million pax for the first time ever in CY2024, i.e. between January 2024 and December 2024. This means that the airport has now entered the major 40 million+ airports category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BIAL (Bangalore International Airport Limited) representatives believe that the airport will handle over 42 million passengers in FY25, i.e. between April 2024 and March 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IndiGo\u2019s Journey at Bengaluru in 2024<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Until recently, Bengaluru Airport (BLR) had seen minimal presence of IndiGo (6E) in international markets. Hence, Bengaluru was 6th<\/sup> in terms of the international flights IndiGo (6E) operated. Airports such as Hyderabad (HYD), Chennai (MAA), and even Kochi (COK) saw more international flights by IndiGo (6E).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline served 2 Gulf cities – Dubai (DXB) and Doha (DOH), 2 South Asian cities \u2013 Colombo (CMB), and Male (MLE) and 2 Southeast Asian airports \u2013 Bangkok (BKK) and Singapore (SIN).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, in an unbelievable shift, the airline added 9 new international flights from Bengaluru (BLR). The airline increased the daily departures from about six till February 2024 to fifteen in December 2024. This shows a remarkable 150% growth<\/strong> in flights by IndiGo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline also increased the number of destinations it served from Bengaluru (BLR). From six until February 2024 to thirteen in December 2024. The airline network at Bengaluru (BLR) grew by over 115%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IndiGo (6E) now connects Bengaluru (BLR) with 4 Gulf cities \u2013 Dubai (DXB), Abu Dhabi (AUH), Doha (DOH) and Jeddah (JED), 2 South Asian Cities \u2013 Colombo (CMB) and Male (MLE), 6 South East Asian cities \u2013 <\/strong>Bangkok (BKK), Phuket (HKT), Langkawi (LGK), Kuala Lumpur (KUL), Singapore (SIN) and Denpasar-Bali (DPS). The airline also connects Bengaluru (BLR) to Africa with flights to Mauritius (MRU).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The significance<\/strong> of this expansion is evident from the fact that Bengaluru Airport (BLR) now stands as the 3rd<\/sup> largest base for IndiGo (6E) in terms of international flights after Delhi (DEL) and Mumbai (BOM) – a remarkable leap from 6th<\/sup> to 3rd<\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Future Destinations and Routes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As IndiGo continues to add new destinations and more frequencies to existing cities, its focus on Bengaluru as a major hub ensures enhanced connectivity for travelers. With 80 destinations already on its list, the airline is expected to continue its growth momentum, offering more opportunities for seamless travel in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This achievement cements Kempegowda International Airport\u2019s reputation as one of the busiest and most connected airports in the country. As IndiGo\u2019s operations grow, it is expected to look forward to an even more extensive range of destinations from Bengaluru (BLR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to AviationA2Z<\/em> sources, IndiGo (6E) is exploring new international routes, including Bengaluru (BLR) to Nairobi (NBO) and Bengaluru (BLR) to Surat Thani (URT) in Thailand. Additionally, the airline is considering Seychelles (SEZ) as a potential destination, where Bengaluru (BLR) once again emerges as a strong candidate for the launch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2025 promises to be an exciting year for airports across the country, and all eyes will be on how Bengaluru Airport continues to soar to new heights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
