GURUGRAM-<\/strong> Tata Group-owned only Indian Full Service Carrier (FSC), Air India (AI)<\/a> launches in-flight Wi-Fi connectivity across its Airbus A350<\/a>, Boeing 787-9, and select Airbus A321neo aircraft, marking a significant advancement in domestic and international air travel connectivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline becomes the first carrier to provide Wi-Fi services on domestic routes within India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The service enables passengers to browse the internet, access social media, conduct business activities, and communicate with contacts while airborne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chief Customer Experience Officer Rajesh Dogra emphasizes how this advancement aligns with modern travel demands, serving both leisure and business travelers’ connectivity needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Wi-Fi service operates above 10,000 feet <\/strong>and supports multiple device connections simultaneously across iOS and Android platforms. Air India initiated this service through a pilot program on international routes<\/strong>, including flights to New York<\/a>, London, Paris, and Singapore, offering complimentary access during the introductory period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Passengers can access the service by connecting to the ‘Air India Wi-Fi’ network and entering their PNR and last name through the airline’s portal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The connectivity experience depends on various technical factors including satellite connectivity, bandwidth usage, flight routes, and governmental regulations. The airline plans to expand this service across its entire fleet progressively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air India celebrates three years under Tata Group ownership this January 2025<\/strong>, reaching the midpoint of its Vihaan.AI transformation initiative designed to establish a global airline with Indian heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The transformation program encompasses comprehensive upgrades across operational systems, infrastructure, and workforce development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline has recruited 9,000 new employees<\/strong> who have completed enhanced service training at its newly established 800,000-square-foot facility in Gurugram, now recognized as South Asia’s largest aviation training center. This expansion demonstrates Air India’s commitment to service excellence and professional development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fleet modernization program has integrated over 100 new aircraft<\/strong>, including India’s pioneering Airbus A350s operating on Delhi-London and Delhi-New York routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One-third of Air India’s wide-body fleet now features upgraded interiors and entertainment systems, with complete fleet renovation scheduled for completion within two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The narrow-body fleet serving domestic and regional routes undergoes similar modernization, targeting completion by mid-2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From 4 to Solid 2<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Air India completed its merger of four Tata airlines in late 2024<\/strong>, consolidating operations into a full-service carrier and Air India Express for low-cost operations. Former Vistara <\/a>aircraft now serve metro-to-metro domestic routes and international destinations like Frankfurt and Singapore, ensuring service consistency across the network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The consolidated fleet reaches 300 aircraft<\/strong>, enabling service to over 100 destinations globally. Air India’s expansion continues with an additional 100 aircraft order, supplementing the 470 aircraft committed in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Supporting infrastructure developments include a new 12-bay maintenance facility<\/strong> and training school in Bengaluru, a 34-aircraft flight school in Amravati<\/strong>, and the training academy in Gurugram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Customer experience enhancements include upgraded inflight dining, new amenities, and streaming entertainment across all aircraft. The rebranded Maharaja Club frequent flyer program<\/strong> serves 10 million members, while the AI.g chatbot receives international recognition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Premium lounges expand with a new facility in Bengaluru, planned openings in Delhi during 2025, and future developments across major cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline’s transformation since privatization has modernized operations significantly. The 30,000-strong workforce maintains a focus on service quality improvements across all operational areas to achieve world-class airline status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
