GURUGRAM-<\/strong> Tata Group-owned Air India (AI) <\/a>has confirmed an order for 100 new Airbus aircraft, intensifying its fleet expansion strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The order includes 10 widebody A350 and 90 narrowbody A320 Family aircraft, including A321neo models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air India Airbus Order<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This latest purchase builds on Air India’s previous order of 470 aircraft placed with Airbus and Boeing last year. The new order increases Air India’s total Airbus aircraft order to 350, up from the previous 250 aircraft (40 A350 and 210 A320 Family aircraft).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alongside the aircraft purchase, Air India selected Airbus’ Flight Hour Services-Component (FHS-C) to support maintenance for its growing A350 fleet. The maintenance contract aims to optimize fleet reliability and performance through comprehensive engineering services and integrated component support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Natarajan Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons and Air India, highlighted the strategic rationale behind the expansion. He noted India’s rapid passenger growth, improving infrastructure, and an increasingly global young population as key drivers for fleet growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“These additional 100 Airbus aircraft will position Air India on a path to greater growth and support our mission of building a world-class airline that connects India globally,” Chandrasekaran stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guillaume Faury, Airbus CEO, expressed enthusiasm about the continued partnership. “We are committed to supporting Air India’s ‘Vihaan.AI’ transformation plan under Tata’s leadership,” Faury said, acknowledging the formidable growth of the Indian aviation sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

344 Airbus Planes on Order<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Air India has confirmed a significant fleet expansion, with 344 new Airbus aircraft currently on order. The airline has already received six A350 widebody aircraft, marking a pivotal moment in its fleet renewal strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The A350 aircraft represents a technological leap for Air India, making it the first Indian airline to operate this advanced model. Powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines, these aircraft provide exceptional fuel efficiency and long-range capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, A350s serve non-stop routes between Delhi and major international destinations like London and New York, offering passengers an enhanced flying experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the Airbus order, Air India has a separate Boeing order for 220 widebody and narrowbody aircraft, with 185 aircraft still pending delivery. This comprehensive fleet strategy positions the airline for significant growth and operational improvement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline’s A320 Family fleet, equipped with CFM LEAP 1-A engines, forms the core of its domestic and short-haul operations. These aircraft deliver operational efficiency and provide millions of customers with a high-quality travel experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
