CHICAGO-<\/strong> United Airlines (UA)<\/a> has unveiled significant modifications to its intercontinental flight schedule for the Northern Summer 2025 season, revealing strategic changes across multiple international routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following are the changes reported by Aeroroutes <\/a><\/em>for changes updated last week on November 21 and 22, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

United Airlines Summer 2025<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

From Chicago O’Hare<\/a>, the airline will implement several noteworthy route adjustments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Athens route will now operate from 01MAY25 to 24SEP25, utilizing a Boeing 787-10 aircraft and shifting from the previously planned 22MAY25 to 01SEP25 timeframe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barcelona seasonal service will commence earlier than initially planned, starting 21APR25 instead of 01MAY25, with a 787-8 aircraft scheduled from 21APR25 to 30APR25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The carrier will also adjust its European routes from Chicago O’Hare. Milan Malpensa seasonal service will now begin 07APR25, a modification from the originally proposed 29MAR25 start date. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Munich routes will see a fleet change, replacing the 787-10 with a 787-8 aircraft, maintaining a daily service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paris Charles de Gaulle will experience an inverse fleet transition, with a 787-10 replacing the 787-8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seasonal routes from Chicago O’Hare will include Reykjavik Keflavik, operating from 19MAY25 to 23SEP25 with 757-200 aircraft, adjusted from the previous 22MAY25 schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shannon will maintain a daily 757-200 service from 22MAY25 to 23SEP25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Houston’s international routes will also see modifications. The Amsterdam route will continue with a daily 767-300ER service, while the Munich route will transition from a 767-300ER to a 777-200ER aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Los Angeles to London Heathrow route will experience a significant reduction, decreasing from two to one daily flight, utilizing a 787-9 aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flights from Newark<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Athens route will see substantial adjustments. United will operate UA124\/125 from 29MAR25 to 30APR25 using a 767-400ER instead of a 787-10, with service commencing on 06MAR25. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, UA116\/117 will introduce a new 3-weekly flight using a 767-300ER, increasing overall service from 7 to 10 weekly flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several new routes will debut from Newark. These include seasonal services to Bilbao (31MAY25 \u2013 23SEP25) with 3 weekly 757-200 flights, Funchal (07JUN25 \u2013 23SEP25) with 3 weekly 737 MAX 8 flights, Nuuk (14JUN25 \u2013 24SEP25) with 2 weekly 737 MAX 8 flights, and Palermo (21MAY25 \u2013 24SEP25) with 3 weekly 767-400ER flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Existing routes will undergo fleet and frequency modifications. Barcelona will maintain 1 daily 777-200ER service, replacing the initially filed 767-400ER.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dubai routes will transition to a 777-300ER from the 777-200ER.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dubrovnik will see a service increase from 4 to 7 weekly flights using a 767-400ER. Faro will operate 4 weekly 757-200 flights from 16MAY25 to 22SEP25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

European destinations will experience significant changes. Frankfurt routes will replace 787-10 with 777-300ER. Milan Malpensa will maintain 1 daily 777-200ER service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Munich will operate a 777-200ER from 22MAY25 to 01SEP25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Naples will initiate seasonal service from 03APR25 with 1 daily 767-300ER.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Transatlantic routes will also see adjustments. Newark to Paris Charles de Gaulle will operate UA054\/055 with a 767-400ER from 21APR25 to 30APR25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Palma de Mallorca will increase from 3 to 4 weekly flights using a 767-400ER.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ponta Delgada will resume seasonal service from 05JUN25, increasing from 5 to 7 weekly flights by 30JUN25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Porto will expand from 1 to 2 daily seasonal flights using 757-200 aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reykjavik Keflavik service will resume from 26JUN25 with 1 daily 757-200.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shannon will initiate seasonal service from 03APR25 with 1 daily 757-200.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Select routes will experience reductions or cancellations. Tenerife South will see its 3 weekly services cancelled effective 02MAY25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rome Fiumicino will undergo aircraft changes, rotating between 787-10 and 777-300ER depending on the period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other Route Changes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the Pacific region, San Francisco<\/a> routes will undergo significant transformations. The Auckland route will maintain 3 weekly 777-200ER service, replacing the previously filed 787-9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barcelona routes will transition to a Boeing 787-10 aircraft for 1 daily service, with current reservations still listing a 777-200ER as of 24OCT24.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Brisbane route will continue 4 weekly 777-200ER service, superseding the initially proposed 787-9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

San Francisco’s Papeete route will replace the 787-8 with a 787-9 aircraft, operating 5 weekly flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Seoul Incheon service will expand to 2 daily 787-9 flights, replacing the previous configuration of 1 daily 777-200ER and 1 daily 787-9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

United Airlines will introduce new routes from Tokyo Narita. Kaohsiung will see 1 daily 737-800 service starting 11JUL25, marking a return to the destination after Continental Micronesia’s last service between October 1993 and April 1998.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Koror and Ulaanbaatar routes are planned with 2 weekly and 1 daily 737-800 flights respectively, though reservation details remain unavailable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washington Dulles routes will experience multiple modifications. Barcelona will operate a 787-8 replacing the 767-300ER from 22MAY25 to 30JUL25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A new route to Dakar will commence 23MAY25 with 3 weekly 767-300ER flights. Lisbon service will reduce 1 of 7 weekly flights from a 757-200, replacing the 767-400ER.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The London Heathrow route from Washington Dulles will maintain the previously implemented reduction from 3 to 2 daily flights using 777-200ER aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A new seasonal route to Nice will operate 4 weekly 767-300ER flights from 24MAY25 to 24SEP25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washington Dulles’ Paris Charles de Gaulle route will utilize UA330\/331 with a 767-400ER from 22MAY25 to 01SEP25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rome Fiumicino will see UA884\/885 operate a 767-400ER replacing the 777-200ER from 01MAY25 to 21MAY25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Venice Marco Polo emerges as a new route, initially offering 1 daily 767-300ER service from 22MAY25, transitioning to 4 weekly from 26SEP25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
