NEWARK-<\/strong> Major US carrier, United Airlines (UA)<\/a> has scheduled the Boeing 777-300ER on routes from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chicago-based airline will introduce the wide-body aircraft on three key European and Middle Eastern routes in spring 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

United 777-300ER to Newark<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Starting March 29, United will deploy the Boeing 777-300ER <\/a>on its Newark to Dubai service, establishing Dubai as a new destination for this aircraft type in United’s network. The same date will also see the aircraft begin operations on the Newark to Frankfurt route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The expansion continues into the summer season, with United launching 777-300ER service between Newark and Rome beginning May 22, reported an independent route analyst Ishrion Aviation<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aviation analysts are closely monitoring these developments, as the expansion raises questions about United’s fleet management strategy. The introduction of these routes suggests either a recent acquisition of additional 777-300ER aircraft or potential aircraft downgrades on other routes in United’s network to accommodate this expansion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

United Airlines has a fleet of 96 Boeing 777 variants, including 22 777-300ERs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Competing Directly with WestJet<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

United Airlines will launch direct competition with WestJet (WS)<\/a> by introducing Edmonton-Chicago service while cutting several Northeast routes. The airline reveals significant network adjustments affecting both international and domestic markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

United Airlines will operate Edmonton (YEG) to Chicago O’Hare (ORD) service starting May 24, deploying an Airbus A319 three times weekly. This move directly challenges WestJet’s newly announced service on the same route, matching both flight days and timing schedules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The carrier announces multiple route cancellations in the Northeast market. United will terminate its Newark (EWR) to Manchester, New Hampshire (MHT) service after March 29.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following this change, United will briefly maintain Manchester’s connectivity through a temporary Washington Dulles (IAD) route before discontinuing this service after May 21, effectively ending United’s presence in Manchester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, United will cease Newark (EWR) to Albany (ALB) operations after March 29. Albany will retain United service through existing routes from Chicago O’Hare and Washington Dulles hubs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
