NEW YORK-<\/strong> A commercial plane experienced a “near miss” with an unidentified aerial phenomenon near New York<\/a>, according to the Pentagon’s latest report on UFOs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report, released Thursday, documents 757 cases of unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs), commonly referred to as UFOs, reported to U.S. authorities over the past year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

US Airlines Near Miss<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

An unidentified airline crew reported to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)<\/a> that a commercial plane had a near miss with a “cylindrical object” over the Atlantic Ocean, just off New York\u2019s coast. The specific timing of the incident and the airline involved remain undisclosed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Pentagon’s report details hundreds of newly identified UAP sightings. While many cases involve misidentified objects like balloons, birds, or satellites, others remain unexplained, including the New York incident. Despite the surge in reports, there is no evidence suggesting extraterrestrial origins for any of the phenomena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Pentagon\u2019s All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) continues to investigate the “near miss” incident involving a commercial plane and an unidentified object near New York, according to its latest report. This was the only case among hundreds of UAP sightings where a \u201cpossible flight safety issue\u201d was documented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report analyzed 757 global UAP cases reported between May 1, 2023, and June 1, 2024, including 272 incidents that occurred earlier but were reported during this timeframe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Investigators resolved nearly 300 cases<\/strong>, identifying many unknown objects as balloons, birds, drones, satellites, or conventional aircraft. However, hundreds of sightings remain unexplained due to insufficient data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Witness accounts commonly described unidentified lights or spherical, orb-like objects. One witness reported an object resembling a jellyfish with flashing lights. The majority of incidents occurred within the airspace, with 49 at altitudes exceeding 100 kilometers (62 miles), considered space. No underwater incidents were reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Pentagon\u2019s All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) identified Elon Musk\u2019s Starlink satellite system as a frequent source of mistaken UFO reports, as people often confuse the satellites’ formation with unidentified phenomena. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite widespread speculation, AARO officials stated that none of the cases investigated have shown evidence of extraterrestrial origins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To date, AARO has discovered no evidence of extraterrestrial beings, activity, or technology.”<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

During a congressional hearing on UAPs held Wednesday, lawmakers heard testimony from expert witnesses, including two former military officers with experience studying the phenomena. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Discussions included speculation about alien intelligence, potential military research involving alien technology, and concerns over foreign adversaries using secret aircraft for surveillance of U.S. military sites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lawmakers emphasized the need for the government to investigate UAPs thoroughly and share findings with the public. Republican Rep. Andy Ogles of Tennessee stated, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is something out there. The question is: Is it ours, is it someone else\u2019s, or is it otherworldly?\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
