This merger is part of Air India\u2019s five-year \u201cVihaan.AI\u201d transformation strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The airline has completed the initial \u201cTaxi\u201d and \u201cTake-off\u201d phases and entered the \u201cClimb\u201d phase this year, focusing on full integration with Vistara, enhancing customer value, and driving profitability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A key objective of this merger is to align with Air India\u2019s \u201cRoad to Profitability\u201d strategy, with a target to achieve profitability by FY27. The integration with Vistara is central to reaching an anticipated cost savings of 1,800 crore INR by FY27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The estimated annual savings of<strong> 500 crore <\/strong>INR is expected to s<a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/index.php\/2023\/08\/09\/tata-air-india-group-reports-15500-crore-loss-in-the-financial-year-of-2023\/\">ignificantly boost Air India\u2019s financial performance<\/a> in the high-cost aviation sector. The merger enables streamlined operations and reduced redundancies, critical for efficiency and cost control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The combined airline will be better equipped to handle industry pressures, including volatile fuel prices and competitive forces in both domestic and international markets, sources told <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindubusinessline.com\/economy\/logistics\/air-india-vistara-merger-to-save-over-500-crore-annually\/article68856060.ece\">Businessline<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since its launch 10 years ago, Vistara has not reported profit. The <a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/index.php\/2024\/09\/24\/singapore-airlines-ceo-will-join-air-india-board\/\">SIA CEO Goh Choon Phong will be on board<\/a> and this will further improve the carrier&#8217;s overall growth. Singapore Airlines has a 25.1% stake in the merged entity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, Air India will need to reduce its flight cancellations and improve load factors by not competing with each other. Air India Express will act as a feeder carrier to Air India which will bring passengers from tier 2 and 3 cities to metro hubs.
