DALLAS-<\/strong> Qatar Airways (QR)<\/a> flight QR731 from Doha (DOH) to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) on October 31, 2024, experienced an unexpected incident as 63-year-old Mahasen Mohamed died onboard the flight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New information has emerged about the death as shared by Fort Worth Star-Telegram<\/em>. Mohamed, traveling with her husband and child from Hamad International Airport, experienced a sudden medical emergency mid-flight, according to an airport police report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qatar Airways Passenger Died<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Witnesses reported that Mohamed collapsed at the rear of the aircraft. A doctor on board immediately began CPR, attempting to resuscitate her for nearly an hour. However, she remained unresponsive. When the flight landed at Dallas-Fort Worth<\/a>, officers from the airport\u2019s Department of Public Safety boarded the plane at Gate D11, Terminal D.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite efforts by both the onboard doctor and ground responders, Mohamed was pronounced dead shortly after 9:45 a.m. local time, as confirmed by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Medical Examiner determined that Mohamed died from pulmonary thromboembolism\u2014a blockage of an artery in the lungs due to a blood clot. Her death was classified as natural.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her family disclosed to officials that Mohamed had a history of blood clots, which heightens the risk of thromboembolism. They also noted that she had been seated for about 10 hours before standing up, which may have contributed to her medical crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Official Remarks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

An airport spokesperson told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram<\/em> <\/a>that first responders from the Department of Public Safety were dispatched to the Qatar Airways aircraft after a medical call. The spokesperson noted that Qatar Airways would have further details about the onboard incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner\u2019s website, Mahasen Mohamed, who passed away on the flight, was a resident of Garland, Texas, part of the Dallas\/Fort Worth metropolitan area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FlightRadar24 data shows that Qatar Airways flight QR731 landed at DFW Airport\u2019s Gate D11 at 09:42 local time, around when Mohamed was pronounced dead. The flight departed from Doha\u2019s Hamad International Airport at 01:32 local time, with a total flight duration of 16 hours and 10 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft involved in the incident is a Boeing 777-200<\/a> registered as A7-BBB<\/strong>. Further, it is 15.8 years old and configured with 42 business class seats and 230 economy seats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similarly, a man was arrested at New York JFK<\/a> who was about to board a Qatar Airways flight. His intended goal was to reach Syria, where he planned to join the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS), the US Department of Justice reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
