LONDON-<\/strong> United Airlines (UA) <\/a>flight from London Heathrow (LHR)<\/a> to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) made a U-turn after declaring an emergency Today (November 9, 2024).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chicago-based carrier operates multiple daily flights between London and Newark\/New York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

United London to Newark Flight Emergency<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to unconfirmed reports shared by X user, United Flight UAL17 or UA17 <\/strong>returned to London due to a suspected fuel leak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, we have reached out to United Airlines’ media relations team to get the official and real updates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per FlightRadar24 data, United flight UA17 took off from London with 25 minutes delay at 12:30 PM local time. After being airborne for around 45 minutes, the flight crew makes a U-turn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The crew declared emergency after crossing the Dublin Airport (DUB) and was at 33,000 feet. The flight landed safely back at Heathrow at around 2:10 PM local time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft then taxied to an isolated area near Terminal 2 for inspection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft involved in the incident is a Boeing 767-300ER, registered as N664UA. Further, it is a 26.4-year-old aircraft, powered by Pratt and Whitney PW4000 engines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If we talk about similar incidents, in August 2024, a Garuda Indonesia (GA) flight rejected takeoff after a fuel leak from its Boeing 737 aircraft<\/a> at Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year, an American Airlines (AA) flight from Chicago O’Hare (ORD) to LaGuardia (LGA) made an emergency landing <\/a>at Kalamazoo Battle Creek Int\u2019l Airport (AZO) after experiencing a fuel lead mid-air. The flight was operated by Boeing 737 aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
