DHAKA-<\/strong> A passenger boarding bridge (JetBridge) collapsed onto a Kuwait Airways (KU) <\/a>Boeing 777-300ER at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (DAC) in Dhaka, causing significant structural damage to the aircraft’s door and fuselage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incident occurred at 2:30 am, one hour after Kuwait Airways flight KU283 <\/strong>landed. The bridge’s sudden collapse happened after passenger disembarkation, with only the flight crew remaining onboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kuwait Boeing 777 Damaged<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The damaged Boeing 777 <\/a>aircraft, scheduled for flight KU283 to Kuwait at 2:45 am with 284 passengers, remains grounded for inspection and repairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kuwait Airways mobilized a replacement aircraft to transport the stranded passengers from Dhaka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline provided temporary accommodation at a nearby hotel for affected travelers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Passengers holding connecting flights from Kuwait will receive complimentary travel arrangements to reach their final destinations, according to Kuwait Airways’ contingency protocol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Delta Air Lines (DL) Boeing 767 sustained minor engine damage <\/a>after colliding with a jetbridge at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) on November 3, 2024. The incident occurred as flight DL125 arrived from Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The aircraft encountered the jetway resulting in minor damage to the engine exterior,” a Delta spokesperson confirmed. “We apologize to our customers for their delay in deplaning.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft, a 25.5-year-old Boeing 767-300 bearing registration N1605, carried 211 passengers and 11 crew members. Delta has removed the aircraft from service for maintenance assessments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This incident follows a similar jetbridge-related event at Dublin Airport (DUB) in July 2023. An American Airlines (AA) Boeing 787 Dreamliner suffered damage <\/a>when an airbridge collapsed near Terminal 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The structural failure ripped off a door from the aircraft, registered as N812AA, as it prepared to disembark passengers arriving from Chicago O’Hare (ORD).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials attributed the Dublin incident to a technical malfunction in the connector’s support structure. No injuries occurred in either incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
