DUBAI-<\/strong> UAE’s flag carrier, Emirates Airline (EK) <\/a>has successfully trained the first batch of engineers to maintain the new Airbus A350-900 aircraft fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It looks like, the training was completed by the end of October 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emirates A350 Engineers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As seen in the image, the Emirates’ first batch of licensed engineers who completed a type course on Airbus A350 <\/a>included 21 engineers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, as per the information we received, many of them were already engineers for Airbus A380s and Boeing 777s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here’s a brief overview of the Type course or Type rating course in aircraft engineering or aviation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Type Training Course equips participants with the theoretical and practical skills needed to certify specific aircraft maintenance tasks. It covers detailed modules on aircraft models, operations, components, procedures, and maintenance manual-level problem resolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, licensed as an Aircraft Maintenance License holder, performs and certifies aircraft maintenance. This license is internationally recognized and endorsed by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aircraft Type Training involves both theoretical training with examinations and practical training with assessments (except for category C ratings). Type Rated Engineers, also known as Aircraft Maintenance Engineers, have specific ratings listed on their licenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aircraft Technicians become Type Rated Engineers by completing basic knowledge exams, gaining experience, completing theoretical and practical type training, passing type exams, and completing on-the-job training for their first aircraft rating in the license category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The batch of engineers celebrated the milestone by cutting a cake embedded with the letters, “FIRST AIRBUS A350 EK TYPE TRAINING.”<\/em><\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emirates is facing lots of delays in taking delivery of its first A350-900<\/a>, registered as A6-EXA. The Dubai-based airline has 65 Airbus A350-900s<\/strong> on order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the delays, Emirates A350\u00a0is now scheduled to make its debut in 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pilot and Cabin Crew Training<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On October 10, 2024, Emirates announced that so far they have trained 30\u00a0pilots\u00a0and 820 cabin crew members <\/a>on the A350-900. Furthermore, over 50 pilots are expected to complete training by November 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the world’s best national carriers has invested $48 million in advanced pilot and cabin crew training equipment for its newest A350\u00a0fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The investment includes three full-flight simulators, a fixed base training device, and cabin emergency evacuation and door trainers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emirates\u2019 first A350 full flight simulator received the highest Level D qualification from the\u00a0European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA)<\/a>\u00a0with zero findings, a significant achievement in simulation technology.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline\u2019s future fleet includes 65 A350s and 205 777Xs, supporting expansion plans and route optimization. Emirates will open a 63,318 sq. ft. pilot training facility housing six full-flight simulator bays for the A350 and Boeing 777X fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The expanded facilities will offer 17 full-flight simulators with an annual capacity of 130,000 training hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emirates\u2019 A350-900 will feature a three-class configuration accommodating 312 passengers. The layout comprises 32 business class flatbeds arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration across eight rows, 21 premium economy recliners, and 259 economy seats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
