DELHI-<\/strong> Over 510 domestic and international flights<\/strong> received bomb threats<\/a> in the past 16 days, with more than 100 threats<\/strong> reported on Tuesday (October 30, 2024) alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These threats, primarily delivered through social media platforms, targeted multiple Indian carriers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over 100 Flights Get Bomb Threats<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Air India (AI)<\/a> confronted approximately 36 threats, while IndiGo (6E) <\/a>and Vistara (UK) faced 35 and 32 threats respectively. Air India confirmed receiving security threats on October 29, 2024, triggering immediate implementation of security protocols and regulatory procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mumbai Police has launched criminal investigations, registering 14 First Information Reports (FIRs) in October following the bomb threats. A new case targets an unidentified individual who issued threats to three airlines via X platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The IT Ministry directs social media platforms to enforce due diligence obligations, demanding swift removal of misinformation within IT rules’ timelines. The Civil Aviation Ministry explores legislative actions to combat these hoax threats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indore Police’s Latest Investigation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Indore police launched an investigation into a social media threat claiming a pipe bomb placement aboard Air India flight AI 636. The threat emerged at 5:08 PM Tuesday, targeting the Delhi-Mumbai via Indore service that had departed Indore at 4:38 PM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deputy Commissioner of Police Vinod Kumar Meena confirmed the investigation revealed the threat’s fraudulent nature. The police verification process established no credible danger to the aircraft or passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Law enforcement registered a criminal case under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita section 351 (4), which specifically addresses anonymous criminal intimidation. The case filing followed a formal complaint from a local Air India representative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
