LONDON-<\/strong> An Air India (AI) <\/a>Boeing 777-operated flight AI129 <\/strong>from Mumbai (BOM) to London Heathrow (LHR) declared an emergency after receiving a bomb threat, one hour before its scheduled landing at Heathrow Airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft activated the emergency code ‘squawking 7700’ while circling over East England.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air India London Flight Bomb Threat<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The flight departed Mumbai at 7:05 am IST and was scheduled to land at London Heathrow at 12:05 pm UK time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flight tracking data from FlightRadar24 shows the aircraft has since deactivated the emergency code and continues its approach to London Heathrow<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today’s incident marks a significant escalation in aviation security concerns, with nine flights receiving bomb threats: five Air India aircraft, two Vistara flights, and two IndiGo flights. These threats add to the growing number of security alerts Indian carriers have faced this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This follows, the October 15, 2024 incident Air India Flight AI127, operating from Delhi (DEL) to Chicago (ORD)\u00a0faced. It made an emergency landing at Iqaluit Airport (YFB) in Canada due to a\u00a0bomb threat<\/a>\u00a0posted online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lost the Count<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I have lost the count of threats the airlines are receiving, whether it’s international or domestic flights. It’s high time that such threats need to be prevented and authorities should put some serious punishment so they think 100 times before posting such security threats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Already, Mumbai police detained a 17-year-old (teen) boy who disrupted multiple international flights by posting\u00a0bomb threats<\/a>\u00a0on social media platform X.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu announced aggressive law enforcement action against perpetrators of recent airline bomb threats, confirming the arrest of a minor in Mumbai for threatening three flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The minister pledged to identify and prosecute all individuals responsible for disrupting aviation operations. Naidu emphasized his direct oversight of the situation while condemning attempts to compromise aviation security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
