DELHI-<\/strong> Tata Group-owned Air India (AI) <\/a>Flight AI127, operating from Delhi (DEL) to Chicago (ORD) on October 15, 2024, made an emergency landing at Iqaluit Airport (YFB) in Canada due to a bomb threat<\/a> posted online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline implemented precautionary measures, including re-screening passengers and the aircraft according to established security protocols.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air India AI127 Gets Bomb Threat<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to flight radar 24 data, the Air India flight AI127 took off from DEL at 9:52 PM UTC. After being airborne for around 12 hours, the flight diverted to Iqaluit Airport and landed safely at 9:20 AM UTC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Iqaluit Airport is one of the most isolated airports in Canada<\/a>. It has around 20 daily flights and is situated in the northernmost part of the country and outside its mainland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hope that Air India takes care of their passengers and they don’t face issues faced previously when Air India flight diverted to a remote Russian airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flight was operated by Boeing 777-300ER, registered as VT-ALM. Further, it is a 16.4-year-old aircraft, powered by two GE90 engines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air India has activated support agencies at the airport to assist passengers until they can resume their journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company acknowledged that it and other local airlines have faced multiple threats recently, all of which have turned out to be hoaxes. However, as a responsible operator, Air India takes all threats seriously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to its customers. Air India is fully cooperating with authorities to identify those responsible for these threats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company intends to hold the perpetrators accountable for disrupting operations and inconveniencing passengers. Air India is considering legal action to recover damages incurred due to these incidents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similar Incidents<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This incident marks the second bomb threat of the day and the fifth in two days targeting Indian flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air India Express (IX)<\/a> reported that multiple airlines have received threats from an unverified social media account, indicating a pattern of targeted harassment against Indian air carriers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier on October 15, an Air India Express flight faced delays due to a bomb threat. The aircraft, carrying 132 passengers from Jaipur, was scheduled to continue to Bengaluru after a stopover in Ayodhya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ayodhya Airport Director Vinod Kumar confirmed the emergency, which stemmed from a threat received via social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similarly, on Monday, Air India flight AI119 from Mumbai (BOM) to\u00a0New York (JFK)\u00a0<\/a>was diverted to Delhi (DEL) following a bomb threat received via X by Mumbai airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A senior police officer at\u00a0Delhi airport\u00a0<\/a>urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information, promising further updates as they become available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An Air India spokesperson stated that the diversion was executed on instructions from the government\u2019s security regulatory committee.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This incident follows a recent pattern of bomb threats targeting airlines and airports, many of which have proven false. On October 5, both Indore\u2019s Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar International Airport and Vadodara Airport received bomb threat emails, resulting in FIRs and thorough searches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
