MUMBAI-<\/strong> India’s largest low-cost carrier, IndiGo Airlines (6E) <\/a>faced bomb threats on two separate flights departing from Mumbai (BOM) on Monday (October 14, 2024), triggering immediate security responses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flight 6E1275 <\/strong>to Muscat (MCT), Oman, and Flight 6E56 <\/strong>to Jeddah (JED)<\/a>, Saudi Arabia received threats, prompting authorities to implement emergency protocols.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two IndiGo Flight Bomb Threat<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Both aircraft were swiftly moved to isolated bays at Mumbai airport. Security personnel initiated mandatory checks following standard operating procedures to ensure passenger and crew safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The IndiGo spokesperson confirmed the execution of these security measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This incident follows a similar threat received by IndiGo just a day earlier. Flight 6E848<\/strong>, traveling from Coimbatore to Chennai, experienced a delay due to a threatening letter discovered before departure. The flight carried 169 passengers, including a minister and a high court judge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel conducted thorough security checks on the Coimbatore-Chennai flight, its passengers, and their luggage. After completing these extensive checks, authorities cleared the flight for departure around 6 PM. Airline officials filed a complaint with the Peelamedu police regarding the hoax threat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similarly, this morning, Air India <\/a>flight AI119 <\/strong>from Mumbai to New York JFK diverted to Delhi after getting a hoax bomb threat<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delhi Police confirmed the arrival of an Air India aircraft at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport following a bomb threat. Security agencies have implemented standard safety protocols to protect passengers and crew while remaining on high alert during the ongoing investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A senior police officer at Delhi airport cautioned against spreading unverified information, assuring the public of forthcoming updates as the situation unfolds. The Air India spokesperson revealed that the flight diversion occurred under the direction of the government’s security regulatory committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All passengers have been safely evacuated and are currently within the Delhi airport terminal. Air India reiterated its commitment to passenger safety and security while acknowledging the disruption caused by this unexpected event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This incident is part of a recent surge in bomb threats targeting airports, with many proving to be false alarms. On October 5, Indore’s Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar International Airport and Vadodara Airport both received bomb threat emails, prompting the filing of FIRs and extensive security sweeps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
