Keep checking back for the latest updates.

After analyzing the FlightRadar24 data, we found that only one flight that was delayed and bound for Chennai was from Coimbatore (CJB).

IndiGo Flight 6E848 was scheduled to depart the CJB at 4:00 PM IST and arrive at Chennai at 5:00 PM. However, the flight departed after hours of delay amid a hoax bomb threat and took off from CJB at 6:22 PM IST. The flight landed safely at MAA at 7:01 PM IST.

The aircraft involved in the incident is Airbus A320neo, registered as VT-ITT. The aircraft is 7.5 years old and powered by Pratt and Whitney (P&W).

But this is not verified and we will wait for official remarks by the airline.

This event follows a separate incident involving an Air India Express (IX) flight to Sharjah on Saturday. The Boeing 737 aircraft, carrying 150 passengers, aborted its journey due to a hydraulic malfunction shortly after takeoff from Trichy at 5:40 PM on Friday.

The pilots circled near the Trichy-Pudukottai border for two and a half hours to burn fuel, preparing for a potential belly landing. The flight safely returned to Trichy airport at 8:15 PM.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has initiated an investigation into the Air India Express incident.

Photo: Robin HARDY

Similar Incidents

An Air India (AI) flight AI471 from New Delhi (DEL) to Visakhapatnam (VTZ) received a bomb threat on September 3, 2024. Visakhapatnam Airport Director S Raja Reddy confirmed the threat was a hoax after a thorough inspection.

Delhi Police alerted Air India and Visakhapatnam airport authorities upon receiving the threat call. The flight, carrying 107 passengers, landed safely at Visakhapatnam airport.

Security teams immediately initiated a comprehensive search of the aircraft, its cargo, and passenger belongings.
