ATLANTA-<\/strong> Delta Air Lines (DL) <\/a>and Scandinavian Airlines System or SAS (SK) have signed a codeshare agreement effective September 25, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This partnership follows SAS’s recent entry into the SkyTeam alliance<\/a> on September 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delta SAS Codeshare Agreement<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The agreement enhances connectivity between North America and Scandinavia, offering reciprocal codeshare and frequent flyer benefits. Customers can now earn and redeem SkyMiles or SAS EuroBonus points across both carriers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delta customers gain access to 50 additional destinations in Northern Europe beyond SAS’s hubs in Copenhagen, Oslo, and Stockholm. SAS passengers can now reach over 150 North American destinations via Delta’s hubs in Atlanta, Boston, Los Angeles, New York, and Seattle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Perry Cantarutti, Delta’s Senior Vice President of Alliances, emphasized the partnership’s role in strengthening Delta’s Northern European presence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He highlighted improved access to Scandinavian destinations and an enhanced overall flying experience for customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paul Verhagen, SAS’s Chief Commercial Officer, expressed enthusiasm for the expanded partnership. He noted the new direct route from Copenhagen to Seattle, which strengthens connections to the Pacific Northwest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Verhagen stressed the collaboration’s potential to provide seamless connectivity and benefits across their global network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SAS Seattle Flights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

SAS will launch a direct flight from Copenhagen (CPH) to Seattle (SEA) route in the summer of 2025, reconnecting the cities after 57 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline will operate five weekly flights, expanding its North American network to 11 nonstop destinations from Copenhagen Airport. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anko van der Werff, President & CEO of SAS, emphasizes the route\u2019s importance in enhancing travel options and reinforcing ties between Scandinavia and the economically significant Pacific Northwest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seattle<\/a>, one of the wealthiest U.S. cities, boasts strong Scandinavian connections dating back to the early 1900s, shaped by Nordic immigrants who influenced the city\u2019s culture and economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SAS is to begin Copenhagen-Seattle operations on May 21, 2025, strategically scheduling flights to optimize connectivity across its network. This new route enables seamless one-stop access between 39 European cities and Seattle via Copenhagen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Passengers from major European hubs including Berlin, Helsinki, Milan<\/a>, and Zurich will benefit from this enhanced connectivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Sea-Tac) demonstrated significant passenger traffic in 2023, handling 50.9 million travelers. Industry projections indicate continued growth for Sea-Tac\u2019s passenger numbers, underlining the airport\u2019s importance as a key transportation hub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
