ATLANTA\u2014<\/strong> Delta Air Lines (DL)<\/a> will suspend reservations for its John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), New York to El Dorado International Airport (BOG), Bogota, Colombia route starting October 27, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline currently operates one daily flight using a Boeing 757-200 aircraft<\/a>. Limited reservations may be available from February 14, 2025, but only in the highest fare classes with minimal seat availability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delta Cuts New York to Bogota<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The existing schedule, focusing on November 11 to December 2, 2024, shows flight DL253 departing JFK at 12:43 PM and arriving in Bogota at 6:25 PM. The return flight, DL254, departs Bogota at 11:40 PM and arrives at JFK at 5:29 AM the next day, Aeroroutes<\/a><\/em> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delta’s partner LATAM (LA) does not operate on this route, but competitor Avianca (AV) maintains the service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Market demand data for this route is unavailable. However, flight frequency data for September and December 2024 indicate an average of 4.0 and 4.1 flights per day, respectively. This translates to 769 seats in September and 840 seats in December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A breakdown of September 2024 flights shows Avianca operating 2.5 flights per day with A320neo aircraft and 0.5 flights with Boeing 787s<\/a>. Delta’s single daily 757 flight completes the current schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apart from this, Delta is also cutting its transatlantic route between Atlanta (ATL) and Stuttgart (STR), Germany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Atlanta-based carrier currently operates four times weekly flights between Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport<\/a> and Stuttgart Airport using a fleet of aging Boeing 767-300ER aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Atlanta-Stuttgart market has experienced a significant decline since the COVID-19 pandemic. Detroit (DTW), a crucial feed market for the route due to automotive industry traffic, has also seen sharp reductions in demand. High fares initially compensated for reduced passenger numbers, but as prices normalized, the route\u2019s profitability became questionable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This decision follows Delta\u2019s cancellation of its Atlanta to D\u00fcsseldorf (DUS) route after Summer 2023, which similarly left D\u00fcsseldorf without transatlantic connections. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
