BOSTON-<\/strong> According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)<\/a>, the service vehicle collided with the Delta Air Lines (DL) Boeing 737-800 aircraft at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) today August 16, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incident occurred when Delta aircraft was parked at one of the gates of Boston Logan Airport and a vehicle hit the plane from the back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Service Vehicle Hits Delta 737 at Boston<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to the FAA, the incident happened at 6:10 pm local time. Luckily the Delta Air Lines 737 was not occupied by crew or passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The extent of damage to aircraft and ground vehicles is not yet known. FAA has said that it will investigate the incident and find out the exact reason for this occurrence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There has been a significant rise in ground incidents involving aircraft-to-aircraft collisions, aircraft-to-ground vehicle hits, and aircraft-to-airport structures including gate, pole, and infrastructure collisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We tried to find out more details regarding the incident using the flight tracking app and checked the official handles of the airline and airport for information, but as of now, there are no further updates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We will keep you updated once we get new information including the registration, flight number, was it arriving or departing from Boston.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is not the first ground collision incident for Delta this year. On February 9, 2024, a Boeing 737 <\/a>operated by Delta Air Lines collided with a stairs truck while taxiing away from its parking position at George Town (GCM) in the Cayman Islands. As a result of the incident, the aircraft sustained damage to its left wing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year in June, United Airlines (UA)<\/a> Boeing 737 MAX wing clipped the tail of a Delta Air Lines Airbus<\/a> A321 at Boston Airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline’s commitment to enhancing passenger experience extends beyond flight offerings. Summer 2023 saw the opening of a new Delta Sky Club in Boston-Logan’s Terminal E expansion. This 21,000-square-foot lounge accommodates over 400 guests and offers panoramic views of Boston Harbor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The club’s design draws inspiration from Boston’s maritime heritage, featuring nautical colors and textures. Amenities include a premium bar with a champagne-toned mesh ceiling, regional food specialties, diverse seating options, soundproof phone booths, and shower suites. This addition complements the existing lounges on Concourse A, allowing Delta to host over 1,000 guests simultaneously across its Boston facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delta’s investment in premium services continues with plans for a new 6,300-square-foot premium lounge in Terminal E, set to open in the fourth quarter of 2024.
