MUMBAI-<\/strong> India’s youngest and greenest carrier, Akasa Air (QP)<\/a> marks its second anniversary with ambitious growth plans, according to founder-CEO Vinay Dube. In a message to employees, Dube projected Akasa’s ascent into the top 30 global airlines by 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite facing Boeing delivery uncertainties, Akasa has secured a firm order for 226 MAX aircraft <\/strong>within 17 months of starting operations, an unprecedented achievement for an Indian airline. This order positions Akasa Air for rapid expansion in the coming years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Akasa Air Celebrates 2nd Anniversary<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The airline currently operates 24 aircraft and employs nearly 800 pilots<\/strong>. However, Boeing’s last MAX delivery to Akasa occurred in February, raising concerns about future fleet growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pilots have expressed worries about slow training programs and reduced flying hours, impacting their earnings. Dube addressed these issues in a Town Hall meeting with pilots on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Akasa is evaluating Boeing’s delivery capabilities and considering alternative options to maintain its growth trajectory. The airline, initially funded by late investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala<\/strong>, commenced operations on August 7, 2022, with its inaugural flight from Mumbai to Ahmedabad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In its two-year existence, Akasa has transported over 11 million passengers<\/strong>. The airline claims to have achieved triple-digit growth, positioning itself as the fastest-growing airline in global aviation history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Akasa’s workforce has grown to over 4,000 employees<\/strong>, whom Dube credits for the airline’s accomplishments. Their dedication and passion have been instrumental in reaching these milestones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline’s network now spans 22 domestic and five international cities<\/strong>, operating more than 900 weekly flights. This expansion demonstrates Akasa’s rapid growth and increasing presence in both domestic and international markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
