The total expenditure reached Rs 796 crore ($95 Million), up from Rs 663 crore ($79 Million) in the previous year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AAI&#8217;s maintenance costs have been rising steadily since 2021-22. In that fiscal year, the authority spent Rs 535 crore on repairs and upkeep. The data covers 121 AAI-operated airports, though 20 of these facilities received no maintenance funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This increased spending comes amid growing concerns about airport infrastructure maintenance. The <a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/index.php\/2024\/06\/28\/delhi-airport-roof-collapse-terminal-1-ops-affected\/\">collapse of a forecourt canopy at Delhi Airport&#8217;s<\/a> Terminal 1D during heavy rains on June 28 highlighted these issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AAI faces new infrastructure challenges as airport canopies collapse in multiple locations. He ordered thorough evaluations of civil, electrical, and technical aspects before each monsoon season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Airport construction follows National Building Codes and considers various factors for safety and durability. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) conducts annual inspections of licensed airports&#8217; airside infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AAI and public-private partnerships plan to invest over Rs 91,000 crore from 2019-20 to 2024-25. Fairfax Financial (54%), Siemens Project Ventures (20%), and AAI (26%) are the companies that hold a stake in the BIAL.
