British Airways, the launch customer for GE’s successful GE90 engine, now expands its partnership with GE through this adoption of GEnx.

The GEnx-1B engine dominates the 787 market, powering two-thirds of all Dreamliners in service. It offers a 1.4 percent fuel efficiency advantage over competitors for typical 787 flights, enhancing airline operational economics.

GE Aerospace emphasizes the GEnx’s compatibility with approved Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) blends. The company expressed confidence in the GEnx-787 combination, highlighting its potential to enhance British Airways’ operations.

The GEnx engine family boasts an impressive track record. Since its 2011 introduction, it has logged over 56 million flight hours. Further, this engine has become GE Aerospace’s fastest-selling high-thrust engine, with nearly 3,000 units in service or on order, including spares.

British Airways already operates aircraft equipped with other GE Aerospace engines. These include the GE90, CF34, and LEAP engines. CFM International, a joint venture between GE Aerospace and Safran Aircraft Engines, produces the LEAP engine.

Stay tuned with us.
