CHUBU-<\/strong> Today (July 7, 2024), Chicago-based carrier, United Airlines (UA) <\/a>flight operated by Boeing 737 from Chubu Nagoya Airport (NGO), Japan to Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport (GUM) in Guam made an emergency landing back at Chubu amid a system malfunction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Further, Japan’s Transport ministry told reporters that there were 44 passengers and six crew onboard the United flight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

United 737 Emergency Landing in Japan<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to Flight Radar 24 data, the United Airlines (UA) flight UA136 <\/strong>took off from Chubu Airport at 2:31 AM UTC. Shortly after takeoff, the flight crew detected some malfunction with one of the Boeing 737 aircraft systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following this, the flight crew decided to make a U-turn back at Chubu and they landed safely at 2:58 AM UTC, just after 27 minutes from its takeoff. The airport closed its runway amid the incident for some time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

United Airlines canceled the flight, however, no damage to the aircraft and no injuries to passengers were reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per planespotters.net, the United Airlines flight UA136 was operated by Boeing 737-800<\/a>, registered as N77261. Further, it is a 23-year-old aircraft and is powered by CFMI engines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similar Incident<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A J-Air flight from Aomori International Airport (AOJ) to Osaka International Airport (ITM) made an emergency landing back at Aomori following an engine fire warning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incident, first reported by Bloomberg, occurred on J-Air’s Saturday flight (June 22, 2024).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline informed Bloomberg that there were 50 passengers onboard Japan Airlines<\/a> flight JL2154. After takeoff from Aomori, the flight crew received a warning about a fire in the E170\u2019s left engine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flight crew immediately contacted the Aomori Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower to arrange an urgent return to AOJ. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among passengers or ground personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
