OSAKA-<\/strong> Japan Airlines (JL) <\/a>Group regional subsidiary, J-Air flight from Aomori International Airport (AOJ)<\/small> to Osaka International Airport (ITM) made an emergency landing back at Aomori following engine fire warning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incident first reported by Bloomberg occurred on J-Air Saturday’s (June 22, 2024) flight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Japan Airlines Emergency Landing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The airline told Bloomberg <\/a><\/em>that there were 50 passengers onboard the Japan Airlines flight JL2154. After takeoff from Aomori, the flight crew received a warning that E170’s left engine has some sort of fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following this, the flight crew contacted the Aomori Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower to land back at AOJ as soon as possible. Luckily, no one onboard the aircraft and on ground sustained any injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Japan Airlines is currently investigating the incident and is finding whether the engine actually caught fire or it’s a false warning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft involved in the incident is Brazilian Embraer <\/a>ERJ-170, registered as JA224J. Further as per planespotters.net, it is 10.7-year-old-aircraft and is powered by GE CF34-8E jet engines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, J-Air, which began operations in 1996 now operates flights to 17 destinations across tier 2 and tier 3 cities across Japan with the help of 32 aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In January 2024, the Japan Airlines Airbus A350<\/a> was involved in the collision with the small coast guard plane at Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND)<\/a>. All passengers on JL516 were safely evacuated but five individuals were killed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similar Incident<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this month, UAE’s flag carrier, Emirates Airlines (EK)<\/a> flight from S\u00e3o Paulo (GRU) to Dubai<\/a> International Airport operated by Airbus A380 experienced engine fire during takeoff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following this, the pilots rejected the takeoff at low speed (38 knots over the ground) and return to back to terminal at GRU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft involved in the incident is A380, registered as A6-EUL and is powered by GP7270 engines manufactured by Engine Alliance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, Malaysia Airlines flight MH199<\/a> from Hyderabad (HYD) to Kuala Lumpur (KUL) with Boeing 737 made emergency landing back at HYD due to engine fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
