GLASGLOW-<\/strong> Global Airlines<\/a>, a new UK-based long-haul carrier, has postponed its inaugural flights until at least 2025. Initially targeting a launch in the spring or summer of 2024, the airline has revised its timeline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In late April, Global Airlines acquired its first Airbus A380<\/a>, which was ferried from California to Scotland. The aircraft, now stationed at Glasgow Prestwick Airport (GLA), is undergoing significant refitting and maintenance to prepare for service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Global Airlines Delays Launch to 2025<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The airline has begun applying its livery to the aircraft and is making progress on interior refurbishment plans. Once complete, Global Airlines aims to offer flights to US destinations, including New York (JFK) <\/a>and Los Angeles (LAX)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Maintenance will progress in the coming weeks, bringing us closer to launching passenger flights next year,” the company stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Global Airlines is gearing up to build a fleet of Airbus A380s, collaborating with Portuguese wet-lease specialist Hi Fly, known for its own experience with A380 operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hi Fly, a former A380 operator, belongs to an exclusive group of only 15 airlines operating this remarkable airliner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To bolster its investment and capital-raising strategies, the airline has partnered with the technology-focused law firm Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company is preparing for its next growth phase, which includes recruiting for senior positions, investing in bringing its first A380 back into service and advancing plans to acquire additional aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Global Airlines founder James Asquith stated, “Since our transatlantic flight, interest from major funds and institutional investors has surged.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While it aims to establish a hub in London<\/a>, early promotional materials hint at a potential focus on Gatwick Airport<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although the airline has not revealed specific operational details, it has hinted at functioning as a full-service carrier, offering first and business-class amenities to enhance the flying experience for passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
