SAO PAULO-<\/strong> On June 15, 2024, Passengers onboard the Emirates Airlines (EK)<\/a> flight from S\u00e3o Paulo\/Guarulhos\u2013Governor Andr\u00e9 Franco Montoro International Airport (GRU) to Dubai International Airport (DXB) operated by A380 experienced an unexpected incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emirates flight EK262 <\/strong>operated by 7.9-year-old Airbus A380-861<\/a>, registered as A6-EUL, rejected the takeoff at Sao Paulo, Brazil amid abnormality with one of its engines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emirates A380 Engine Fire<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to Aviation Herald<\/a><\/em>, Emirates flight EK262 was rolling down runway 10L at Sao Paulo, but suddenly a bang and loud noise was heard from A380’s left engine. Apart from this, the flames were observed by passengers sitting on the left side and also by flight attendants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following this, the flight crew decided to reject the takeoff at low speed (38 knots over the ground) and return to the terminal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per the FlightRadar24 and RadarBox data, the flight was cleared to take off and it started its run at 4:16 AM UTC. But within few a seconds, it reported the issue with the engine and returned to the apron by 4:38 AM UTC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emirates staff told the passengers to disembark safely and they were informed that the flight had been canceled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aircraft Grounded<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

According to FR24 data, the aircraft is still on the ground after two days of the incident. Emirates already operated two EK262 flights with different A380s from Sao Paulo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A6-EUL is powered by four GP7270 engines manufactured by Engine Alliance, a joint venture between General Electric and Pratt & Whitney<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emirates Flight between Dubai and Sao Paulo is one of the largest flights operated by Airbus<\/a> A380 in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier today, the Virgin Australia (VA)<\/a>\u00a0flight was forced to make an emergency landing at Invercargill Airport due to an engine fire. The flight, which was traveling from Queenstown (ZQN) to\u00a0Melbourne (MEL)<\/a>, reportedly encountered engine trouble during takeoff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
