However, most passengers on the crowded <a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/?s=777\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Boeing 777 aircraft<\/a> had no oxygen masks available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1023\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-153.png\" alt=\" United Airlines (UA) passengers on a flight from Paris (CDG) to Washington Dulles (IAD) experienced panic when an automated emergency decompression announcement played\" class=\"wp-image-44738\" srcset=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-153.png 1023w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-153-300x200.png 300w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-153-768x513.png 768w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-153-750x501.png 750w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1023px) 100vw, 1023px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Photo: Alexander Lang | Flickr<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-united-false-depressurization-warning\">United False Depressurization Warning<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>On June 12, a passenger on Flight <strong>UA914 <\/strong>reported that the situation worsened when flight attendants announced that they were having difficulty contacting the pilots via the interphone system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Luckily, the 777 was not experiencing decompression, and passengers did not need to use oxygen masks to prevent unconsciousness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a statement to <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.paddleyourownkanoo.com\/2024\/06\/16\/passengers-sent-into-panic-mode-on-united-airlines-flight-to-dulles-when-oxygen-masks-drop-due-to-false-decompression-alert\/#:~:text=Passengers%20onboard%20a%20recent%20United,dropped%20from%20the%20overhead%20panels.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PYOK<\/a><\/em>, a spokesperson for United Airlines confirmed that several oxygen masks &#8220;inadvertently&#8221; deployed during the eight-hour transatlantic flight from Europe, although the airline has not yet explained the system malfunction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;On June 12th, a small number of oxygen masks inadvertently deployed on United flight 914 from Charles de Gaulle Airport to Dulles International Airport,&#8221; the airline stated in an email to PYOK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Spokeperson further said, &#8220;The cabin air pressure was normal for the entire flight, the aircraft landed safely as scheduled, and customers deplaned normally.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1023\" height=\"648\" src=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/image-114.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-55478\" srcset=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/image-114.png 1023w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/image-114-300x190.png 300w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/image-114-768x486.png 768w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/image-114-750x475.png 750w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1023px) 100vw, 1023px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Photo:  Rachel So | Flickr<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-one-more-in-series-of-incidents\">One More in Series of Incidents<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>While flight flew across the Atlantic at a maximum altitude of 36,000 feet, the cabin on older Boeing 777s is pressurized to around 8,000 feet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the aircraft&#8217;s pressurization starts to rise, pilots are alerted by onboard sensors and flight attendants receive indications when the pressurization reaches 10,000 feet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At 14,000 feet, oxygen masks automatically drop, and a pre-recorded announcement typically plays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The aircraft involved in Wednesday\u2019s incident was taken out of service for a day but returned to commercial service on June 14, operating a 13-hour flight between Dulles and <a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/?s=Tokyo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tokyo Haneda (HND)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This incident is the latest in a series of mishaps for United Airlines, which is currently under an <a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/?s=FAA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">FAA <\/a>investigation into its safety culture.
