SEATTLE-<\/strong> As the long days of summer envelop Alaska, Alaska Airlines (AS)<\/a> has launched seasonal nonstop service between Anchorage (ANC) and New York (JFK)<\/a>, marking the only nonstop route between the two airports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flights are available for purchase at its official website and will run daily through August 19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This new nonstop service provides New Yorkers with a convenient option to explore Alaska’s vast wilderness, rich Native culture, fresh seafood, stunning scenery, and historic towns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Anchorage-New York JFK route spans 3,385 miles, making it the longest in Alaska Airlines’ network. The service will utilize the new Boeing 737-8 aircraft<\/a>, which boasts the longest range in the airline’s fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

14 Nonstop Destinations from ANC<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This summer, Alaska Airlines is offering flights from Anchorage to 14 nonstop destinations in the Lower 48 and Hawaii<\/a>: Chicago, Denver, Honolulu, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, New York JFK, Phoenix, Portland, Salt Lake City, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, and Seattle\/Everett (Paine Field).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Negotiating Flight Attendant Contract<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Alaska Airlines is actively engaged in contract negotiations with its flight attendants<\/a>, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline has a strong history of successfully negotiating with union partners, achieving agreements that benefit employees while ensuring the company’s long-term success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both Alaska Airlines and the flight attendants agree on the need for a new contract, prompting diligent efforts to reach an agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recently, Alaska Airlines presented a comprehensive economic proposal that included boarding pay, wages, per diem, future wage increases, industry-standard Ratio-in-Guarantee (RIG), and a two-year contract duration. Additionally, more than 50 tentative agreements covering numerous topics have been established.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alaska Airlines remains optimistic about the negotiation process and is committed to securing an agreement that provides flight attendants with deserved wage increases while maintaining the company’s business model. With seven recent labor agreements, including a new contract for aircraft maintenance technicians in February, the airline is hopeful to finalize a similar agreement for flight attendants soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AFA and Alaska leadership have met twice in the past month and continue to negotiate with a mediator. Currently, the negotiations are in the \u201cMediation\u201d phase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Off-duty flight attendants may be seen demonstrating in various hubs as part of the union\u2019s mobilization efforts. Furthermore, Alaska Airlines respects and supports its right to engage in these activities and does not anticipate any disruption to operations or service as a result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
