New Delhi-<\/strong> Videh Kumar Jaipuriar, CEO of Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), announced that the airport expanding its international passenger capacity by 40% to 50%, as more international airlines seek connections with India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Delhi Airport <\/a>chief stated that the airport can handle up to 105 million passengers, including 22 million international travelers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delhi Airport Expanding capacity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We are running out of international capacity. We are looking at various ways to increase the capacity, and the plan is to increase it by 40% to 50% in six months to one year. We have consultants working to get the best solution in terms of operational as well as passenger convenience and also the airside infrastructure matching with that of the terminal infrastructure,<\/p>Videh Kumar Jaipuriar (CEO of Delhi International Airport Ltd)<\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Delhi\u2019s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA)<\/a> has three terminals: T1, T2, and T3. The expanded Terminal 1 is expected to be operational by the end of the month. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CEO mentioned, “We hope T1 will be operational sometime this month,” and added that all low-cost airlines, including IndiGo, will operate from the expanded T1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Expanding T3 Operations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Discussing international flights from T3, the DIAL chief said, \u201cAbout 20% of our passengers are transit or connecting, whether domestic to international or domestic to domestic, and some segments are growing faster.\u201d The airport handled nearly 20 million international passengers last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DIAL, a consortium led by the GMR Group, is developing a 10-year master plan, which will be finalized after discussions with airlines. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cConsidering the dynamic changes over the past five to six years, we have advanced our master plan initially set for 2026. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are gathering input from all airlines and planning accordingly,\u201d Jaipuriar said. He added that they are open to options like dedicated terminals for specific airlines or for international and domestic connections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
