PERTH-<\/strong> A Virgin Australia (VA)<\/a> passenger who allegedly ran naked through the aircraft cabin midflight has been arrested after the plane returned to Perth Airport (PER), Australia<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Virgin Australia Boeing 737 <\/a>was en route to Melbourne Airport (MEL)<\/a> on May 27, 2024, when the male passenger became disruptive. In addition to running naked through the cabin, he allegedly knocked a Virgin cabin crew member to the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Virgin Perth to Melbourne Flight<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Australian Federal Police (AFP) arrested the man when the aircraft returned to Perth Airport just before 20:00, after only an hour of flying, according to ABC News Australia<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe can confirm on Monday, May 27, VA696 <\/strong>from Perth to Melbourne returned to Perth,\u201d Virgin said in a statement. \u201cOn arrival in Perth, the aircraft was met by the Australian Federal Police, and the disruptive guest was offloaded.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline added, \u201cThe safety of our guests and crew is our top priority, and we sincerely apologize to guests impacted.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The AFP confirmed that after the passenger’s arrest, he was taken to a hospital for assessment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“AFP officers arrested a man after he allegedly ran naked through the aircraft mid-flight and knocked a crew member to the floor,” an AFP <\/em>spokesperson said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exact charges are yet to be finalized, but the man is expected to appear in court on June 12, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
