MUNICH-<\/strong> Lufthansa (LH) <\/a>announced it will begin Airbus A380-800<\/a> flights between Munich (MUC)<\/a> and Washington, D.C. (IAD) starting May 31st. Currently, this route is served daily by an Airbus A340-600, according to our database.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washington, D.C. will become Lufthansa\u2019s fifth A380 destination, joining Boston (BOS)<\/a>, Los Angeles (LAX), New York (JFK), and Delhi (DEL).<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lufthansa A380 to Washington<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As of now, all of Lufthansa’s Airbus A380s are based at Munich airport. The airline has eight A380s, with five currently in operation, reported FlightRadar24<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lufthansa operates 28 weekly flights across its four current A380 routes. With the addition of Washington, D.C., weekly A380 flights will increase to 35 throughout the summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The last A380 flight to Washington, D.C. is scheduled for September 30th. Starting in October, the route will be serviced by the 293-seat Airbus A350-900<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
