Post-flight inspection uncovered a hole in the left engine cowling and engine case, in Singapore.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The flight, which carried 197 passengers and 14 crew members, landed safely, and all passengers disembarked without any issues, confirmed a United Airlines spokesperson to the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfchronicle.com\/sf\/article\/united-flight-boeing-engine-issue-19457697.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Chronicle<\/a><\/em>. However, the rest of the journey was canceled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re arranging hotel accommodations and meal vouchers in Singapore for passengers, who will be rebooked on another flight departing Wednesday using a different aircraft,&#8221; the spokesperson stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The aircraft involved in the incident is a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner registered as N27957. It is 8 8-year-old and 8-month-old jet powered by two General Electric-made GEnX engines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The United 787 is still grounded in Singapore after almost 30 hours (at the time of publication).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stay tuned with us.
