According to American Airlines’ media statement, a flight was diverted to Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) due to the potential bird strike.

The pilots successfully landed the aircraft at BWI, and it taxied to the gate without incident. American Airlines maintenance team conducted an inspection of the Embraer 175 aircraft while the airline arranged for the passengers to continue their journey to Key West promptly.

The flight took off from BWI at 08:19 PM EDT and landed at EYW around 10:47 PM EDT.

American Airlines reported that the flight had 69 passengers and four crew members on board, and fortunately, there were no injuries.

Photo: Andrew E. Nonetheless, these incidents pose significant risks to aircraft, often leading to substantial damage and costly repairs depending on the size of the bird involved.

Stay tuned with us.
