SINGAPORE-<\/strong> The commencement of revenue operations for AirJapan (NQ)<\/a>, the new medium-haul carrier within the All Nippon Airways (ANA) Group<\/a>, between Singapore (SIN) and Tokyo’s Narita International Airport (NRT) took place successfully with its inaugural flight on April 27, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This landmark flight landed at Singapore’s Changi International Airport<\/a> at 11:40 PM local time. It departed at 12:55 AM local time, carrying 278 passengers to Narita International Airport, signifying a significant milestone for the airline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Boeing 787 Cabin<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

“Ensuring comfort is paramount for us, especially on medium-haul journeys,” the spokesperson elaborated. “We are confident that our passengers will enjoy a superior level of comfort with our seating arrangements. AirJapan’s seat design boasts a pitch of 32 inches, a width of 17.5 inches, and a recline angle of 6 inches, exceeding the capabilities of many competitors.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AirJapan has configured its cabin layout primarily focusing on enhancing passenger comfort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The layout features an all-economy class arrangement and wider seat pitch and width compared to numerous competitors, offering 32 inches of pitch and 17.5 inches of width. This emphasis on comfort is particularly beneficial for medium-haul flights lasting approximately 6 to 7 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite stepping into a fiercely competitive arena with at least five other carriers, AirJapan perceives opportunities for growth and expansion. The airline is contemplating the establishment of a dual network with Kansai International Airport (KIX)<\/strong> in response to the growing demand for flights to the Osaka region alongside Tokyo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We are currently exploring the prospect of creating a dual network<\/strong> with Kansai International Airport,” disclosed the spokesperson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We have been fielding requests from international markets for flights to the Osaka area and Tokyo. Notably, ANA Group’s Peach operates out of Kansai International Airport, and AirJapan’s route to the Kansai region would enhance connectivity to other parts of Japan.”<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

With Japan continuing to attract record numbers of tourists from Singapore, the airline’s strategic entry into the market could be warmly received.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AirJapan\u2019s Managing Director, Mr. Toru Ishikawa, while addressing people present at the event, stated,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“As many of you know, there has been a significant rise in the number of Singaporean travelers visiting Japan, reaching a record high of (five hundred ninety-one thousand) 591,000 visitors last year.

In response to this growing trend, AirJapan is dedicated to facilitating memorable journeys to Japan for Singaporean travelers by offering competitive fares and comfortable flights and imbuing the experience with a touch of Japanese hospitality. Singapore remains a sought-after destination for Japanese travelers for leisure and business purposes.

The country welcomed around (four hundred thirty thousand) 430,000 Japanese visitors last year, steadily recovering from the pandemic.”<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, with the yen persistently depreciating since reaching a historic low against the Singapore dollar in November 2023, the affordability of AirJapan’s fares could render Japan an even more appealing destination for Singaporean travelers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
