EUROPE-<\/strong> A series of new transatlantic routes connecting Europe <\/a>and North America are set to begin over the coming weeks, and they will be launched by carriers such as Scandinavian Airlines (SAS), Air France, Lufthansa, and Condor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the more notable routes is being introduced by SAS, connecting Denmark\u2019s capital, Copenhagen, to Atlanta<\/a>. The U.S. city will become the ninth destination SAS serves in North America, alongside flights to Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Newark, New York, San Francisco, Toronto, and Washington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Europe and NA: 50 New Routes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Flights will commence on June 17, operating daily during the summer months using Airbus A330-300 aircraft, reducing to 5X-weekly in winter aboard A350-900s. The service to Atlanta, a SkyTeam\u2019s Delta Air Lines<\/a> hub, comes as SAS prepares to leave Star Alliance to join SkyTeam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air France will expand its transatlantic network by introducing a route between Paris and Phoenix in May, marking the first nonstop flights between France and the U.S. Service will commence on May 23, operating thrice weekly during the summer season using Boeing 787-9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The French capital becomes the third European destination to be served nonstop from Phoenix, alongside Frankfurt Airport and London Heathrow Airport. The new route is estimated to provide a $30 million annual economic boost to the Arizona city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

German carriers Lufthansa <\/a>and Condor will also add new U.S. points from Frankfurt in the coming weeks, with Lufthansa adding nonstops to Minneapolis-Saint Paul (MSP) and Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, and Condor launching operations to San Antonio. The latter will see a 3X-weekly seasonal service using A330-900neos, becoming the Texan city\u2019s only transatlantic route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Transatlantic Flights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Delta Air Lines will also initiate flights from MSP to Dublin, compete with Aer Lingus on the route, and commence service between New York, John F. Kennedy (JFK), and Naples, Italy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fellow U.S. carrier American Airlines is also entering the Naples market, with a route from Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) starting on June 5. European service from PHL to Nice, France, will also begin on May 6 and to Copenhagen on June 6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elsewhere, JetBlue <\/a>is expanding its transatlantic operations with seasonal flights from New York JFK to Edinburgh Airport, Scotland. At the same time, Norse Atlantic Airways plans to start a Paris Charles de Gaulle-Los Angeles route in May and launch operations from Greece\u2019s capital, Athens, to JFK. United Airlines is also adding flights to Athens from Chicago O\u2019Hare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other notable new routes starting to\/from Europe include Air Canada\u2019s seasonal operations to Stockholm Arlanda Airport from Montreal and Toronto Pearson and WestJet\u2019s St. Johns-London Gatwick and Halifax Stanfield-Edinburgh routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
