FRANKFURT-<\/strong> In a recent incident, a Lufthansa (LH)<\/a> Airbus A350 had to make an emergency landing at Frankfurt Airport (FRA) <\/a>due to smoke detected in the aircraft’s galley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The swift actions taken by the crew ensured a safe landing, but the incident caused the flight cancellation to Montreal, QC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lufthansa A350 Reports Smoke in Galley<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Lufthansa Airbus A350-900, with registration D-AIVC, was flying from Munich (MUC) <\/a>to Montreal (YUL) when the crew noticed smoke in the aft galley, reported Aviation Herald<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Acting promptly, they decided to divert the aircraft to Frankfurt Airport. During the rapid descent, a Traffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) resolution advisory was triggered to avoid traffic below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft successfully landed on runway 25C at Frankfurt Airport approximately 25 minutes after the smoke was reported. After an emergency services inspection on the runway, the aircraft taxied to the apron for further examination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unfortunately, due to the emergency landing and subsequent inspection, both the original flight to Montreal (LH-474) and the return flight to Munich (LH-475) had to be canceled. The passengers were safely disembarked, and alternative arrangements were made to accommodate them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Airbus A350-900 remained grounded at Frankfurt Airport for approximately 2.5 hours before being positioned back to Munich. After thorough checks and necessary repairs, the aircraft returned to service about 16 hours after the incident, ensuring the safety of future flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Virgin Atlantic (VS)<\/a> flight en route to Barbados had to make an emergency landing at Manchester Airport<\/a> as the cockpit allegedly filled with smoke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft landed at 1:50 pm on Sunday (7 January) following pilot reports of the scent of \u201cdense, acrid smoke,\u201d as stated by the aviation website AirLive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Virgin Atlantic Flight VS77 departed from Manchester for Bridgetown approximately an hour prior and had to reverse course after only about 20 minutes in the air. The plane landed safely and was greeted by firefighters at the airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Virgin Atlantic attributed the disrupted flight to a \u201ctechnical issue.\u201d A spokesperson for the airline informed The Independent, stating, \u201cThe VS77 from Manchester to Barbados has returned to Manchester due to a technical issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
