GURUGRAM-<\/strong> Tata Air India (AI)<\/a> is set to implement a new crew management system, enhancing rostering rules and facilitating quicker recovery from scheduled disruptions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a message to the staff on Friday, Air India CEO and MD Campbell Wilson stated that the CAE Crew Management System will be implemented within two weeks. This system will “strengthen our systems’ adherence to rostering rules, improve the tracking of training & qualifications, and enable faster recovery from schedule disruptions”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air India Crew Management<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The introduction of the new system addresses concerns raised by pilots’ unions regarding rostering issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“With the new CAE Crew Access app, the crew can seamlessly access real-time information, enjoy new capabilities (such as the ability to swap flights), and utilize a range of self-service tools, auto alerts, and features like secure in-flight chats,” Wilson stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, he mentioned that Air India is now assigning the ‘AI’ code to Air India Express (IX)<\/a> operated flights, enabling AIX to benefit from its global sales and distribution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that Air India will take advantage of 9 new destinations and hundreds of extra frequencies operated by AIX, allowing customers to enjoy the convenience of through-check-in and baggage tagging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This follows the earlier rollout of AI code on I5 flights and is a precursor to the placement of the AI code on Vistara (UK) <\/a>flights, too,” Wilson stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the Tata Group’s consolidation of its airline business, Vistara will merge with Air India. At the same time, the merger of Air India Express and AIX Connect (formerly AirAsia India<\/a>) is complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flight Disruptions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Air India CEO said, “It\u2019s been a very busy week right across the Company and for many different reasons. It began last weekend with the disruption to our Tel Aviv flights and, subsequently, to some of our US schedules due to the closure and\/or avoidance of certain airspace and route overflight windows. Then, just a few days later, we experienced unprecedented rains in Dubai, causing significant disruption to schedules, passengers, and crew.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The Air India group operates dozens of services between India and North America and nearly 250 flights per week between India and the UAE, providing some sense of the scale of our teams’ operational challenges.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I would like to acknowledge the tremendous effort made by our crews and ground staff in Tel Aviv to return AI140 to Delhi safely, our teams serving on, or handling, the many other affected US and DXB flights, and everyone in the various supporting HQ departments.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Speaking of our sister airlines, congratulations to AIX for successfully completing the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA), marking the first time they\u2019ve undergone the risk-based audit pioneered by Air India.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
