DUBAI-<\/strong> Video clips circulating on social media depict Dubai International Airport (DXB) <\/a>inundated with water following heavy rain and thunderstorms in the UAE. The footage captured at the scene reveals airplanes surrounded by floodwaters as they contend with the disruptive weather conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Airport operations were temporarily halted for 25 minutes to address the disruption, confirmed by the airport authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dubai Airport Flooded<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In a statement shared on X on Tuesday, significant flooding on roads leading to the airport was described, with forecasts indicating continued unsettled weather until the following morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The DXB account later updated on X, stating, “We are presently diverting incoming flights this evening until weather conditions improve. Departures will continue as scheduled. Alongside our partners, we are actively working to restore normal operations and minimize inconvenience to travelers.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Travelers were recommended to verify their flight status, allocate ample additional travel time, and opt for the Dubai Metro for smoother transportation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier Tuesday, Dubai Airports reported canceling 17 flights due to adverse weather conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This development coincided with authorities in the UAE <\/a>urging the public to stay indoors amidst severe storms affecting the Emirates (EK)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Work from Home Announced<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A safety alert issued by the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority advised individuals to venture outside their residences only in cases of “extreme necessity.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Weather alerts persist following extensive rainfall and thunderstorms affecting significant areas of the UAE during the early hours of Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, the Government of Dubai has extended remote work arrangements for employees until Wednesday, and private schools in the emirate have been instructed to continue remote learning. Private sector organizations have also been encouraged to prolong remote working for an additional day to prioritize safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
